1988:  28-2

It wasn't time to rebuild in 1988, it was simply time to reload.  Five starters had graduated, but those spots on the diamond would be filled seamlessly by the returning players and some newcomers.  Coach Fitzpatrick famously was quoted as stating the team had no weaknesses in the pre-season capsule which immediately set the tone for the season.  The pleasant addition of former Ardsley super-star Paul Murphy as assistant coach helped make it a season to remember.  They started with seven straight victories until they finally were tripped up at Pearl River in mid-April.  One other loss to Eastchester later that season was the only other blemish as they entered sectional play 19-2.  Sectional wins over Briarcliff, Pine Plains and Rye Neck set up a best two-out-of-three sectional final match-up with rival Eastchester.  The Panthers would not falter and swept the Eagles earning yet another Class C Section 1 championship.  Once again, Marlboro would become a victim in the regional semi-finals, this time by a score of 21-7.  The team defeated Mattituck in the regional finals 3-0 and they would advance to the state final four in Utica.  A close 2-1 victory over St. Lawrence in the state semi-final game got the Panthers to the championship game vs. JFK-Cheektowaga later that day where they would earn an 8-4 win and celebrate the third consecutive state title.  A previously promised trip to meet Governor Mario Cuomo in Albany and a final national ranking of 14 capped off the 28-2 season.
