1989:  26-2

Coach Fitzpatrick admitted there was a little pressure going into the 1989 season.  But once again, he made sure there was no complacency and didn't let the success of the past season affect the play on the field.  The team had lost six starting players from the previous year, but those spots were filled by the new stars.  The trio of Bernie McNerney, Steve Gyimesi and Tom Caldara carried all the major experience and leadership into 1989.  They won an incredible 14 consecutive games to begin the season and there was talk of an undefeated season until consecutive one-run losses to Pelham and Westlake in mid-May put the winning streak to a halt.  They entered sectional play with a record of  18-2.  Victories over Edgemont and Nanuet led to to a two-game sweep of Pine Plains in the Section 1 finals.  They survived Chester 5-4 in the first regional game and scored 7 runs in the 7th inning vs. Center Moriches to earn a 12-7 reginoal final win.  Another trip upstate for the state final four had the Panthers meet previously undefeated Lansing in the semi-final game.  A 6-4 win advanced them to to the championship game in Utica where they edged Northern Adirondack 7-6 and won the 4th Class C state title.  A team trip to Cooperstown to visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame took place of the usual championship parade celebration for the 26-2 squad.
